The 16th UWASNET Annual General Meeting held on Thursday, May 26th, 2022 elected a total of seven additional members of the UWASNET Board of Directors.
As a network organization, UWASNET’s Board of Directors are not individuals but member organisations. In total the UWASNET Board of Directors has 13 positions with 11 positions for the member organisations and two ex-offio positions which are the Ministry of Water and Environment and the Secretary represented by the Secretariat.
The UWASNET Board of Directors serves a tenure of three years and the current Board will serve from 2022 to 2024.
The elected new members of the Board of Directors are; IRC International Water and Sanitation Centre, Caritas Fort Portal HEWASA, Uganda Muslim Rural Development Association (UMURDA), SIMAVI, Community Integrated Development Initiatives (CIDI), Katosi Women Development Trust (KWDT), and Habitat For Humanity Uganda.
Four members of the previous Board of Directors namely Whave Solutions Ltd, Lifewater International, Amref Health Africa and Watermission stayed on the Board as per the UWASNET constitution for continuity.
The 16th AGM was held with support from GIZ under the Civil Society in Uganda Support Programme (CUSP). With support from CUSP, an orientation workshop is planned to facilitate their work as members of the Board of Directors.
