Menstrual Hygiene Management Interventions By KYEMPAPU

KYEMPAPU  in partnership with the Sylviassisters ,Global Social Network Uganda, Sahara Charity  organisation   organised  this years Global Menstrual Hyigine Day in  Mbulire  and Mirembe Muslim Secondary Schools both located  in Kitanda Sub county on the 28th May 2021.

The organisation had a long day of activities  which included  tree planting in both schools, training on how to make reusable  sanitary pads,  how to use and manage washable towels and how to use and manatain Biosand filters.

There were speakers from different partner organisations as well as a Mid wife from the District- attached to Butenga Health  centre.

The organization distributed  350 kits  and  underwear to all the girls in those two schools.

The MHM interventions were under the  theme .Periods in the pandemic , time for action and together we can end period stigma by 2030

The major aim of the day’s events was to break the silence, raise awareness and change negative social norms surrounding  menstrual hygiene around the world.

The team took the students through the importance of proper hygiene and why they need to keep the sanitary pads as a private property and not share them with anyone not even their sisters.
